With a simple DNA test, I was inspired to do my final major project about DNA and Heritage. As a graphic designer who is passionate about making books, I have made two interconnected books in a slipcase, one being about DNA and the test, having scientific approach to it and the other dives deep into my roots. The second book I named "My Heritage" as in the book I showed where my roots came from, the story of my ancestors. My great-grandfather is a Genocide survivor and his story found its place in my book too.
Book- Code of Life
In this book, you can see my exploration and research outcome about DNA and its scientific meaning and history. In the book I also included about my geographic roots and made a family tree all inspired by the DNA test.
Book- My Heritage
This is where science turns into something more emotional. This book contains the history and culture of my roots, which is all connected to Armenia, my homeland. In this book you will see Armenia's beautiful heritage, starting from carpets into the Armenian bird calligraphy. This book also holds the story of my great-grandfather who is a survivor of Armenian Genocide and with the help of DNA test I was able to confirm geographical facts about him. I also decided to include the history of Armenian Genocide to raise more awareness of it to the world.
At the end, all the books are safely stored in a slipcase.
